There is a lot of propaganda that promotes nationalism in a country that thinks it’s the best at everything. The USA has been force feeding the world its ideas since it began.
Read the preamble of the constitution and then try to apply that to EVERYONE in our history… and tell me it doesn’t read like propaganda. Knowing what we know.
We don’t live in a place were we actively provide those ideals for everyone. And we never have. If you think that we do, then you’re living in a bubble… and you’re super lucky.
The existence of slavery, suffragettes, the initial passage of Roe vs. Wade…. how were we always equal and free?
We oppress people because of their race, gender (or refusal to identify through accepted terms) , sexual orientation, and religious preferences.
We cater to the few who scream the loudest, while letting the many suffer. Mass shootings unlike anywhere else in the world? Yeah we’re leaders in that. Good on us.
Roe vs. Wade being overturned is a direct assault on a woman’s bodily autonomy. It’s a direct assault on an entire gender for the purpose of control. It’s a violation of women’s freedom.
No one has the right to tell anyone what to do with their body. Period.
We must now climb the same god damned hill and fight for equality and freedom - again, while swearing to the rest of the world that this is what we’re all about - our passionate, sincere love of liberty.
It’s a joke. And it’s not funny.
We’ll wave the flag and storm the beach of some other county, wagging our finger in their face, tell them they aren’t free like we are. We’ll stand in consortiums of world leadership and spout loudly that we are the bastion, the flame keepers of truth, justice and the American way.
All while we embolden systems of oppression that affect people of color and women -the most historically oppressed people in all of history.
That’s a lot of people…. like most of the world.
The concept that we would Make America Great Again is such bullshit. I don’t want to hear about the space race, and automobiles, and highways…
Fuck all that. If people have always been oppressed - and they have - within our history - than I don’t really care what we accomplished. Advancements in technology and industry certainly padded our pockets. But what does it really matter if our social structure is rotting?
People love to cite how soldiers have sacrificed for our liberty and freedoms. Fair enough. But what good are those sacrifices if we’re constantly undermining them. Who are those sacrifices for?
What is free and brave about telling people they can’t love who they want to love? How is it liberty if a woman now is forced to carry a child of incest or rape? What about all the women who physically cannot carry a child to term without their life being threatened?
Why the fuck do we even have to ask those questions? Why isn’t good enough to just trust that what a woman decides is enough? Why do we need an explanation?
Men feel entitled to women’s bodies. That’s the bottom line.
Men expect women to just acquiesce. That’s the cold, hard truth.
Is that great? Is that what we “fought and died” for?
Why are men so insecure about themselves that they need that kind of control?
We are broken. We aren’t free. We are living in an idea that doesn’t actually manifest for everyone. And if everyone can’t experience the kind of freedom and liberty we are so loud about, then we aren’t free.
We’re delusional.
I want freedom for everyone. I don’t want control. I want to control my own actions. To hoe my own row. That’s it.
I want to live in service to people as best that I can. Loving my partner. My kids.
And show respect to the general world around me.
That’s my declaration of independence.
I am a man. And I believe in a woman’s right to choose. Because I believe women are human beings.
Do you?
